Labodega Ice Bar 2011-2012

We’re at it again ….and we’re inviting you to join us!

The La Bodega Ice Bar: the most photographed and talked about bar in western Canada is being re-created again this November and your business can be a part of it as an Ice Bar Sponsor.

Constructed anew each year by local artist Peter Fogarty, the Ice Bar is a truly unique and immeasurably successful marketing opportunity for local and national businesses. Factor in the ubiquitous social media platforms – Facebook, Youtube and Twitter – along with repeated coverage by print media and television, your business logo  will be seen by hundreds of people daily. Your logo, carved into shimmering blocks of ice that form the Ice Bar, will be part of a winter-long beacon to celebrate the season.

Also, as an Ice Bar Sponsor, you and your company would be invited to “man the helm” as volunteer bartenders serving up mulled wine and hot rum toddies. With freedom to promote and market your company as you pour drinks for the legions of Ice Bar fans, the advertising potential of one-to-one contact with your future clients is first-rate. Looking back on past Ice Bars, we can say that some of our most successful nights at the Ice Bar has been when a Sponsor’s sales staff have been hosts. This year’s volunteer bartenders will also be automatically entered for a chance to win La Bodega Gift Certificates based on best  beverage sales. ( Just to be clear, it is not compulsory to volunteer.)

All proceeds raised by this year’s Ice Bar will be donated to a scholarship created by La Bodega owners Alla Sidorenko and Adam Sperling. Inspired by their trip to Italy to attend the 2010 Terra Madre conference, they have created a scholarship for a Master’s Degree at the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Italy. Not only is this scholarship an opportunity to live and study in the beautiful Emilia-Romagna region of Italy, it will also prepare the recipient for a career as a “Gastronome”: a hands-on approach to the growth, cultivation, transportation, marketing and preparation of quality food.  The scholarship is open to all Canadian citizens who are permanent Saskatchewan residents.

Whether you are a past Sponsor renewing your support or a new one interested in our winter Ice Bar venue, I would like to thank you in advance for your time and consideration.

For further information on how your business can be a La Bodega Ice Bar Sponsor please contact: Patricia Todd at (306) 546-3660 or by e-mail: labodega@sasktel.net

International truffle fair in Alba

International truffle fair in Alba, Piedemonte, Italy. We are overwhelmed by the pungent, earthy, aphrodisiac-like odors of the small black and white fungi 50m before we enter the exhibition hall and Sofia begins crying and has to go outside with Alla and Katya. Samantha and myself  pay the 20 euros and enter. As we do,  I become somewhat euphoric and must begin with a small glass of Borrollo and some truffle pate. I have fungi eyes as do the 100s of other visitors and media people. We find a large gathering of people haggling over a white truffle worth more than 200 euros($400can). We manage to take a few photos and move on to the fried eggs. After a rest, Sofia, Alla and Katya are ready to come in and we head straight for the fried eggs which turns into 26 euros for 2 eggs smothered in white truffles. Get the paddles! I just had a coronary but i want more eggs.

Labodega attends Terre Madre 2010

Arrived in Genoa Italy Sept 29 and drove to Dogliani where our hosts Fabio and Anna waited our arrival in a vineyard of Dolcetto grapes. This is to be our home for the next month as we learn and teach about slow food. We drink to our ancestors and the harvest. The 3 kids are suffering from jet lag so we try to get them to sleep.

Welcome to La Bodega

La Bodega is Regina’s first Tapas bar specializing in international fine dining with an emphasis on the Latin quarter. One of Saskatchewan’s true jewels and a tribute to culture, cuisine, and art.

La Bodega is home to Regina’s best patio. It is the only 3 level patio in the city with brick stone and cedar. La Bodega offers the best of Regina.

We have private dining rooms, a catering facility, weddings, movie sets, and private functions.

La Bodega is Spanish for wine cellar. Tapas is Spanish for top and refers to a taste or morsel. Bar is a legal exam. Grill is a hot surface where delicious food is prepared.

At La Bodega Bar and Grill, we believe that being a regular translates to family.

2228 Albert St. since 1905, La bodega Tapas Bar and Grill since 2001. At La Bodega we like to take good care of our family for more than just today. Known as an oasis of great food, wine and cultural diversity, La bodega also prides itself on trying to do their part for the environment with wind turbines, solar panels, geothermal and a large selection of local and organic menu items. La Bodega is a leader in food and the environment and is ready to do whatever necessary to help today’s children have a better, more natural tasting tomorrow.

The chefs at La bodega have served some of the world’s most famous and influential people such as Bill Gates, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Adam Sandler, Charlize Theron, Terry Gilliam, Oliver Stone, Bernardo Bertolucci, Brian Adams, Lenny Kravitz, Jann Arden, k-os, Bare Naked Ladies, Ralph Nader, Jenifer Sass(NRDC and Presidential advisor to the Obama Administration on environmental issues), Mark Spooner (U of R), Brad Wall (Premier of the best province in Canada) and all of YOU who we have not mentioned but thank you for your support. It makes for a pretty interesting family dinner.

Chefs are very ingenious capable people and if the public insists on natural products and clean chemical free water, we will find a way to make a difference together. La Bodega has cut its power and gas bills by as much as 50% in the last year with environmental initiatives and encourages other small business to try to do the same.
